AI Ethics & Responsible Use Policy

At the Institute for AI Training & Professional Development (“IATPD,” “we,” “our”), we are committed to advancing high-quality, ethical, and responsible artificial intelligence education. As an institute that trains professionals, coaches, facilitators, and leaders, we uphold strict ethical standards to ensure that AI technologies are used with integrity, fairness, and respect for human dignity.

This policy outlines how we approach AI development, instruction, and application across our programs, certifications, and digital products.

Our Ethical Foundations

Our AI ethics framework is built on six core principles:

1.1 Transparency

We commit to being clear and honest about:

  • When AI is being used
  • How AI tools function within our programs
  • What limitations and risks may exist
  • When learners or instructors are interacting with AI-generated content

We do not misrepresent AI-generated content as human-produced work when such transparency matters.

Human Oversight

AI supports — but does not replace — human judgment.

All AI-generated outputs used in coursework, assignments, or training must be:

  • Reviewed by learners
  • Evaluated by instructors
  • Interpreted in context

AI is a tool, not an authority.

Fairness & Non-Discrimination

We ensure that AI tools used within our programs:

  • Are evaluated for potential bias
  • Are used in a way that does not discriminate
  • Are applied fairly to all learners

We actively discourage unethical use of AI to reinforce prejudice, discrimination, harassment, or harm.

Privacy & Data Protection

We uphold strict data ethics by ensuring:

  • Personal data is never used to train AI models without permission
  • AI systems do not access private learner data without consent
  • Sensitive information is handled according to GDPR and global privacy laws

We do not store or upload confidential learner information into AI systems that cannot guarantee privacy protections.

Accountability

We teach learners to take responsibility for:

  • The quality and accuracy of outputs generated with AI
  • How AI is applied in businesses, coaching, training, and content creation
  • Ensuring compliance with professional standards

AI cannot be used to avoid responsibility for decisions or outcomes.

Safety

We take AI safety seriously and commit to:

  • Avoiding harmful or misleading applications of AI
  • Preventing misuse in areas such as medical advice, legal decisions, or psychological intervention
  • Ensuring our materials align with safe, responsible usage guidelines

Responsible Training & Learning Standards

As a professional institute, IATPD ensures that all AI training is:

  • Ethically grounded
  • Technically accurate
  • Aligned with CPD expectations
  • Relevant to real-world application

Learners are taught:

  • How to identify AI limitations
  • How to avoid overreliance on AI
  • How to maintain accuracy and integrity
  • How to verify and validate AI output
  • How to disclose AI usage professionally

We do not promote “shortcut-only” methods or unethical uses of AI.

Ethical Use of AI Within Coursework

Learners may use AI tools to assist with coursework and must:

  • Credit AI use when required
  • Ensure final work reflects their own understanding
  • Maintain academic honesty and professionalism
  • Avoid plagiarism, automated essay submission, or AI-generated assignments without review

IATPD reserves the right to request clarification or supporting work if AI misuse is suspected.

Ethical Business Use of AI

For learners applying AI in business, coaching, or training:

You may not use AI to:

  • Create misleading claims
  • Generate false testimonials
  • Fabricate credentials
  • Provide medical, legal, or financial advice when not qualified
  • Manipulate clients or learners
  • Automate services in a deceptive manner

We promote honest, client-centered, values-based business practices at all times.

Data Ethics & AI Tools

Any AI tools used within IATPD programs must:

  • Comply with GDPR and global data protection laws
  • Avoid storing or reusing learner data without consent
  • Provide security measures consistent with industry practices
  • Be transparent about training sources and capabilities

We avoid using or recommending tools known to:

  • Violate data privacy
  • Misuse copyrighted content
  • Exploit user data

Ethical AI Development Principles

When we create tools, prompts, GPTs, and AI-enabled learning systems for our learners, we commit to:

  • Designing for inclusivity
  • Reducing bias and harmful output
  • Providing clear instructions and safe use guidelines
  • Using AI to empower—not replace—human creativity
  • Ensuring learners understand the scope and limits of the tools

We prioritize responsible innovation.

Misuse of AI

The following are strictly prohibited within IATPD programs:

  • Using AI to impersonate individuals
  • Using AI to generate hateful, harmful, or unsafe content
  • Using AI to bypass certification requirements
  • Using AI for academic dishonesty
  • Creating deepfakes without consent
  • Engaging in data scraping or unauthorized data usage
  • Automating human interactions in deceptive ways

Violation may result in removal from programs, denial of certification, or account suspension.

Instructor & Staff Responsibilities

All IATPD instructors, facilitators, and support staff commit to:

  • Following ethical AI teaching practices
  • Reviewing AI tool recommendations regularly
  • Maintaining transparency about their use of AI
  • Ensuring fairness in grading and evaluation
  • Modeling responsible, professional AI usage

Continuous Review & Updates

Due to the rapidly evolving nature of AI technology, IATPD:

  • Reviews this policy annually
  • Updates the policy as new ethical standards emerge
  • Monitors global AI regulatory developments
  • Communicates significant updates to learners
